Alumni, trustees, faculty, staff and friends of Cabrini College will celebrate the vision and legacy of retiring President Antoinette ,Toni, Iadarola on Friday, June 13, with a tribute, ,Daring to Dream: The Iadarola Legacy., Dr. Iadarola, who is completing her 16th year as president, will retire on June 30.
Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served in Cabrini's Center for Science, Education and Technology, constructed as part of the College's recent $20 million comprehensive campaign.Dinner follows in the Nerney Field House at the Dixon Center, a 64,000-square-foot sports and recreation center, one of the first buildings constructed on the Cabrini campus during Dr. Iadarola's tenure.
Cabrini College established The President Antoinette Iadarola Endowed Fund, which reflects Dr. Iadarola's legacy of advancing academic programs that engage students with issues of social justice and communities in need.Under Dr. Iadarola's leadership, Cabrini was among the first institutions of higher learning nationally to implement community service into its core curriculum and the first in Pennsylvania to require community service of all its students.In 2005, Cabrini became the first college in the country to sign an agreement with Catholic Relief Services to support the organization's global outreach program, which has seen Cabrini students working on issues of immigration, forced labor problems, and HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention in North and Central America and Africa.
The event will be emceed by Cabrini alum and myphl17's Steve Highsmith CE '88.Scheduled to speak are former Board Chairs Edith Robb Dixon and Margaret Hamilton Duprey '73, Board Chair Theresa Cavanaugh '74, and Dr. Iadarola.
