James Hyde, chief operating officer of clearance retailer Overstock.com, is no longer with the company - at least not in an executive capacity.And what connection Hyde now has to the company is a mystery, with some sources telling The Post he was "demoted" and others simply saying he was either asked to step down or fired.
Overstock.com has removed any reference to Hyde from its investor-relations Web site, but a representative for the company refused to comment, citing the so-called "quiet period" before the company releases fourth-quarter 2003 results on Jan. 28.
Hyde, reached at his home during business hours, referred questions to the company.

And like her husband, and possibly James Hyde, she is also now unemployed.
Meanwhile, whatever is happening at Overstock.com is certainly causing a buzz.
