Ben D. Huynh
Ben joins Alaniz and Schraeder in 2008 with over thirteen years in the exclusive practice of U.S. immigration and nationality law.He started his legal career as an associate attorney with one of the U.S.'s leading immigration boutique law firms and has served as immigration counsel for one of Texas' largest law firms and as immigration in-house counsel for Motorola, Inc., a Fortune 500 company.After having prepared, reviewed and filed literally thousands of employment-based temporary visa petitions (i.e. H-1B professional workers, L-1 intracompany transfers, E-1/E-2 treaty traders and investors, Trade NAFTA professionals, etc.) and permanent residency applications (PERM labor certifications for skilled and unskilled workers, national interest waiver and outstanding researcher petitions, etc.), Ben has developed an expertise in assisting employers with developing and planning cost-effective strategies to hire and manage their foreign national workforce in the U.S.He has also counseled company recruiters, human resources representatives, labor attorneys and foreign nationals on all aspects of employment-based U.S. immigration issues, including I-9 compliance, L-1 Blanket program administration and the proper utilization of B-1 business visitor visas.Additionally, Ben regularly prepares and accompanies third country foreign national employees for their visa stamping appointments at the U.S. Consulates in Mexico and Canada.
As a Vietnamese refugee and naturalized U.S. citizen, Ben has a personal understanding of the often difficult and confusing maze facing those seeking U.S. immigration benefits, and he has a passionate commitment to offering the highest level of immigration services to clients.His commitment was evident early on in his career when Ben turned down a lucrative summer law school clerkship to volunteer, without pay, to assist Vietnamese refugees and permanent residents with their family-based immigration applications through the YMCA International Services program.
Ben earned his Bachelor's in Business Administration Degree from Baylor University and Juris Doctorate Degree from South Texas College of Law and completed a semester abroad in International and Comparative Law at the University of Exeter (England).He is fluent in Vietnamese.
