Noel McKay Hurley, Sr., of Lancaster, S. C., retired in 1992 after 34 years of state service with the S. C. Department of Health and Environmental Control.At the time of his retirement, he was Bureau Chief of Lab Services in the Environmental Quality Control Laboratories of DHEC.
A member of the Catawba River Task Force and the S. C. Water Environment Association, Hurley wrote the 75-year history of the Association for presentation at the S. C. Environmental Conference in March of this year.
He participates actively and enthusiastically in the SCSEA Lancaster Chapter, where he is involved in the Chapter's legislative activities as Chapter Legislative Co-Chairman.He is also a member of the Association's statewide Board of Directors.
Hurley enjoys pruning grape vines and fruit trees, plowing garden plots, and mowing yards for the elderly in his church and neighborhood.He and his wife also provide transportation to medical and hair appointments for those unable to drive.
