"Now they have to because the LEC is going to be out there pushing broadband and they're not likely to share their fiber access networks," says Mike Hurley, vice president of sales and marketing at Fibertech Networks, an alternative fiber optic access provider catering to carrier and enterprise customers.
    ...
"Access options are extremely scalable and affordable," says Hurley.Customers can be connected with as few as two T1s (3mbps) to as high a 10 gigabit connection. And competitive carriers can opt to start with one of these services and over time move to dark fiber, Hurley adds.

"We feel like we've broken the code on providing alternative access to carriers," says Hurley. We've gone from being strictly a dark fiber provider and enabling carriers with that, to providing metro transport including dark fiber.Although our core competency continues to be found in efficiently building, extending and managing metro fiber networks, we have now layered metro Ethernet and TDM services over that infrastructure to meet the increasing demands for lit access in our markets.

The network is powered by gear from multi-service access vendor Entrisphere Inc., Ethernet switch supplier Foundry Networks Inc. and optical gear maker Turin Networks Inc.One of Fibertech's differentiators, says Hurley, is that, "We own it all.We control it all.We manage it all," says Hurley.
