For further information contact: Susan Hunter on (02) 6265 2661 or 0405 310 176 BIOGRAPHIES * Head of the Defence Personnel Executive: Rear Admiral Brian Adams in June 2002, to replace Rear Admiral Russ Shalders who will become Vice Chief of the Defence Force.Rear Admiral Adams was promoted rear admiral in July 2000 and is currently the Deputy Chief of Navy.He has a strong training and resource management background, having held appointments as Director of Naval Warfare, Director of Defence Force Resource Policy, and Commanding Officer of HMAS Creswell.He was also the Commandant of the Australian Defence Force Academy. * Deputy Chief of Navy: Commodore Rowan Moffit in June 2002, on promotion to rear admiral, to replace Rear Admiral Brian Adams who will become Head of the Defence Personnel Executive.Commodore Moffit was promoted commodore in December 1999 and assumed his current appointment as Commandant of the ADF Warfare Centre in July 2001.He has a very strong background having been Director-General Navy Capability, Performance and Plans reporting to the Deputy Chief of Navy, and having commanded HMAS Brisbane and HMAS Newcastle.He holds a Masters of Business Administration from Mt Eliza Business School and is a graduate of the Joint Services Staff College. * Deputy Chief of Army: Major General Frank Roberts in June 2002, to replace Major General Peter Leahy who will become Chief of Army.Major General Roberts was promoted to major general in January 2001 to his current appointment as General Officer Commanding Training Command - Army.He has a strong command, training, and policy background having commanded 7th Task Force, 1st Field Regiment, and the Peace Monitoring Group in Bougainville.His policy experience is extensive in Defence Headquarters, having held the appointments of Director-General Military Strategy and Director of Military Strategy.He also has project management experience as Director of Weapon and Vehicle Procurement. * General Officer Commanding Training Command: Temporary Major General Ian Gordon in September 2002, on promotion to substantive major general.Major General Gordon was promoted temporarily in September 2001 to undertake the duties of Deputy Commander UNTAET in East Timor.He has a strong command, personnel and training background.He commanded 1st Signal Regiment, was the Director of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals, Commandant of the Army Command and Staff College, Director-General Future Land Warfare and Director-General Career Management - Army.
