Susan Hunter's practice emphasizes wills and trusts, including probate matters and prenuptial agreements, although she also does some income tax work and has several business clients for whom she is primary counsel.After graduation from Smith College in 1970, Susan taught sixth grade in the Boston Public Schools for three years before deciding to attend the University of Maine School of Law.In 1975, she began work as an estate tax attorney with the Internal Revenue Service in Portland.While there she received her CPA designation.She has been in private practice in Portland since 1979.She has been elected a fellow of the prestigious American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel.
Susan is past President of the Maine Estate Planning Council, the Maine Law Alumni Association and the Maine State Bar Association.She is a member of the Planned Giving Committee of Maine Medical Center and has been its chair.She served on the Grievance Commission of the Maine Board of Bar Overseers for eight years, the last four as its chair.In 2002 she was appointed by the Maine Supreme Judicial Court to the Maine Board of Bar Overseers.
Susan resides in Portland.She has one son who is now in college.
