Henry Hull, a therapeutic optometrist, started treating Heriberto in second grade, shortly after the Flores family moved to New Braunfels.
    ...
Curtis and Hull worked together to find a therapy that would work for Heriberto.
    ...
"About a year ago, I got him a consultation with a corneal surgeon," Hull said.
    ...
Hull said that by the summer, both of Heriberto's eyes were showing signs of scarring.Though he and his family had hoped to put it off, a transplant soon became the best chance of saving Heriberto's sight.
    ...
Hull said that, because Heriberto is not a U.S. citizen, there was limited help available.
    ...
"Dr. Snip got the price down to $2,006, and normally it's $2,500 for the transplant tissue alone," Hull said."The family had some money saved up, but I wanted them to use it for post-operative care. That's when I went to the Lions Club."

The New Braunfels Lions Club, where Hull is a member, agreed to pay $2,000 of the $2,006.Hull paid the remaining $6 himself.
    ...
"We will never find a way to repay all the help from Dr. Hull and the Lions Club."

After a successful surgery earlier this month, Hull thinks Heriberto may be on the road to a great recovery.
    ...
However, Hull said Heriberto's vision may go from 20/2100 to 20/40 with glasses.

"He could lead a very normal life. The transplant may last up to 20 years," Hull said.
