Huffines was a graduate of Western Maryland University and received his Master of Divinity degree from Boston University.He was a Korean veteran.
Most of Huffines ministerial career was as a campus minister , first at the Wesley Foundation at the University of Maryland , then at George Washington University in Washington , D.C. From 1967 to 1985 , Huffines was campus minister at Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater , Mass..
Huffines was a collector of model trains , a train buff , said his wife of nearly 50 years.He and Margaret ( Peggy ) Fertig met at the Edgewood Arsenal , now Abingdon Proving Grounds , where she was the organist and he sang in the chapel choir.
He returned to the Baltimore-Washington Conference to serve at Piney Grove UMC until by-pass surgery in 1988.Following a year's leave of absence , he retired in 1990.
In addition to his wife , he is survived by a daughter , Christina Balboni of East Bridgewater , Mass. , three grandchildren , a brother , Donald Huffines , and sister , Nancy Linn , both in Ohio.
