Cindy Hsieh is originally from Taiwan, the Republic of China.Her family immigrated to the Dominican Republic when she was only 7 years old.This journey changed and shaped her life; she learned Spanish and English as second languages in this 3rd world country.In 1997 she was granted a scholarship at Berea College, which allowed her to obtain her degrees in Bacholor of Arts in Spanish and a Bacholor of Science in Nursing.Kentucky became a second home to her; there she met her husband Antonio Melton and married in 2001.Upon graduation, she began her nursing career at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in critical care services.
Cindy joined COTA in 2003? and was elected a board member the following year.In 2005, Cindy was admitted into the Nursing Anesthesia Program at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.She was then appointed to COTA's advisory board.Cindy will graduate from anesthesia school in 2007 and plans to join COTA in future mission trips as a CRNA!
