   He was born in Canton, Ohio and was admitted to the Ohio bar in 1960.He graduated from Pennsylvania State University (B.S., 1957) and Case Western Reserve University (L.L.B., 1960).Mr. Howes is one of only two active Stark County lawyers who are fellows of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers.He has been a frequent speaker at CLE programs, mediation seminars, and in-service training lectures on such topics as medical malpractice, hospital liability, professional liability, railroad tort law, trial tactics, and advocacy.
   
   He is a member and Past President of the Stark County Bar Association, a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel, Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys, The Defense Research Institute, Inc., the International Association of Defense Counsel and is a fellow with the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Ohio State Bar Foundation.
