   PAUL G. HOWES is senior vice president of Bausch & Lomb and president of The Americas Region, responsible for the commercial operations of Bausch & Lomb's vision care, pharmaceutical and surgical businesses in the United States, Canada and Latin America. He was named to this post in July 2003.
   
   Mr. Howes joined Bausch & Lomb from Merck & Co., Inc., where he held a variety of positions including vice president - Sales for Merck Frosst Canada; vice president - Sales and Marketing for Specialty Products at the U.S. Human Health business; president of Merck Frosst Canada; and president and chief executive officer of the Dupont Merck Pharmaceutical Company. Prior to Merck, he spent 11 years with Price Waterhouse.
   
   Born in Ontario, Canada, Mr. Howes received an M.B.A. from York University in Toronto in 1984, and an A.B. in liberal arts from Harvard College, Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1976.
   
   Mr. Howes is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and a trustee of the ChristianaCare Health System in Wilmington, Delaware. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Prevent Blindness America.

   ROCHESTER, N.Y.--Bausch & Lomb (B&L) has realigned management responsibilities for its Americas region after Paul Howes, currently senior vice president and president-Americas region, announced his decision to resign.
   
   Howes will remain with B&L "to effect an orderly transition to the new management structure," a company announcement said.
