"Beacuse it's close to the holidays, a lot of people think that the best thing to give to charities is toys," said Sara Howell, a Georgetown University student organizing the fund-drive for WirelessWednesdays."What is more critical is buying these children blankets, towels, medicine, and clothing -- quality of life things, the essentials."

Aside from the fundraiser, WirelessWednesdays has offered to broker the exchange of the 'grandmashouse.com' domain name to construct a Web site to facilitate future organizational contributions to the orphanage.Further, WirelessWednesdays is also seeking a Web development firm open to donating time to launch the site.

"This will be the ultimate gift that literally keeps giving," Stammer said of the future Web site.
