Directing his sixth Oscars Awards ceremony this year he is regarded not only as a pioneering figure in Live broadcasting of entertainment events but a cutting edge and contemporary force in the global broadcasting arena.
Last year alone, Horvitz directed 12 high-profile specials; including the 72nd Annual Academy Awards both the Primetime and Daytime "Emmy Awards," "The Kennedy Center Honors," "VH 1 Fashion Awards," "Tribute to Joni Mitchell," "The Essence Awards," "The Peoples Choice Awards," The United Negro College Fund's "An Evening of Stars" and "Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular."
In 1998, Horvitz won an Emmy Award for his direction of the 70th AnnualAcademy Awards.He was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1997 for directing the 69th Oscar telecast and won his first Emmy in 1996 for his direction of "The Kennedy Center Honors."
In 2000, Horvitz was nominated for a DGA Award for directing the 72nd Academy Awards broadcast.
