USA: The New York Times Names Guy D. Holliday Vice President, Advertising Sales

The New York Times announced today (March 24, 2004) that Guy D. "Doc" Holliday, director of engineering and maintenance operations, has been named vice president, advertising sales.The position is effective March 29.Mr. Holliday will be responsible for managing The Times's classified advertising sales, including the real estate and recruitment categories as well as the eastern national sales offices, health care, home furnishing manufacturers and packaged goods.Mr. Holliday will report to Jyll Holzman, senior vice president, advertising.

Mr. Holliday, 40, has been director of engineering and maintenance operations for The New York Times since 2000, and from March 2003 to March 2004 he was on active military duty as a major in the United States Army.Previously he was an assistant plant manager at The Times's print facility in Edison, New Jersey, from 1996 to 2000.
Before joining The Times, Mr. Holliday worked at Lukens Steel from 1994 to 1996 in several roles including general supervisor of finishing operations, operations manager, project coordinator and engineer.From 1992 to 1994, he was an operations manager at Kimberly-Clark Corporation.He served as a captain in the United States Army from 1986 to 1992.
Mr. Holliday graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1986 as a Distinguished Military Graduate with a B.S. in organizational leadership and general engineering.He also received an M.S. in quality systems management in 2002 as an Honor Graduate from the National Graduate School in Falmouth, Massachusetts.
