Bayhealth Medical Center recently honored Debra Hanna and Nancy Holland as the northern and southern division employees of the quarter.
...
Nancy Holland of Milford is the Office Coordinator for outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy at Milford Memorial Hospital.
"I was totally surprised when (Bayhealth President/CEO) Mr. Klima walked into our meeting and said I was the Employee of the Quarter," she said."Then I started crying.I really appreciated it."
As Office Coordinator, Ms. Holland is responsible for many different activities, including scheduling patients for therapy, creating reports for her manager and director, obtaining insurance authorizations and assisting patients. She was also instrumental in tracking patient zip codes in a study to determine whether or not Bayhealth should offer physical therapy services in Milton, a service which is now offered.
From February through May of this year, Ms. Holland worked nearly 80 hours a week to complete her own tasks in Milford but also at Kent General, where she converted office procedures to be consistent with Milford's.
"Everyone here in Milford was so supportive of me during this time," she said.
Ms. Holland joined Bayhealth in 1999 in the Human Resources Department at Milford. After six months, she was promoted to an H.R. position at Kent, where she worked for two years before taking a position closer to home, as a registrar/unit secretary in Milford's outpatient rehabilitation. From there, she progressed to Billing Coordinator before being named Office Coordinator.
Ms. Holland's son Nikolus, a freshman at Milford Senior High School, is a member of three different baseball leagues, which keeps her very busy year-round.Nikolus also spent his summer volunteering in outpatient rehabilitation, and was able to attend the meeting in which his mother received her award.
Originally from the Philadelphia suburbs, Ms. Holland moved with her family to New Hampshire and lived there until 1983, when she moved to Milford.Ms. Holland plans to take a co-worker, Bev Isaacs, to dinner at Outback Steakhouse in Rehoboth to thank her for her help and support during the time period when she worked to consolidate operations at both Milford Memorial and Kent General Hospitals.
