  Katharine Holland, an agent with Coldwell Banker San Francisco, said she too had become more circumspect when dealing with clients since attending a city-wide Coldwell Banker class on fair housing earlier this year.There she learned that telling a gay client "there are a lot of gay people in the building" could be construed as discriminatory steering."Even though I'm gay and they're gay and it might be nice to go down to the laundry room and see someone cute, I can't say that," explains Holland, who successfully marketed herself as an agent with a special knowledge of the gay community.She also learned to be careful of phrases like "within walking distance," lest the word walking could be interpreted as excluding those in wheelchairs.
