    The man was Robert Holland.

Bob Holland is the Op-Ed Page Editor at the Richmond Times-Dispatch in Richmond, VA.I spoke with Mr. Holland on the phone recently and explained that since Mr. Spagnolo's ouster from Virginia he had wound up here in Illinois and is now in charge of our public education.

Mr. Holland agreed to send me a compilation of 33 columns he wrote over a period between December of 1992 until August of 1994, which he did.
    ...
In another conversation with Bob Holland (4/3/95) Mr. Holland confirmed that town meetings began to spring up all over the state of Virginia after people began to understand what Spagnolo had planned for their children.

Mr. Holland was careful to convey that his differences with "Joe," as he referred to Spagnolo, were not personal. He says that personally he likes "Joe" and had eaten lunch with him several times and that they had talked about a common interest in basketball together. He wanted to make it clear that his differences with Spagnolo were strictly over philosophy of education. He also stated that he had never once called for "Joe's" ouster, but had simply informed the public about Spagnolo's proposed policies concerning public education.

Just what is it that Robert Holland and the people of Virginia found so distasteful about our Mr. Spagnolo's education policies?
    ...
Actually it would be impossible in one column to be able to cover a subject that it took Mr. Holland 33 columns over a period of a year and a half to do.

The author's name is Robert Holland and his books are available at www.frosthollowpub.com

We were so taken with his double digit written series for young boys, that our sister company, Finally! TV, produced a new media broadband production of him reading some of his books.

Mr. Holland is the quintessential writer. He looks comfortable, has a really big lovable dog, has pipes in his billiard room, lives in a warm antique home in the preverbal country; has a pond, a rolling knoll and really does occasionally have a flock of turkeys cross his path. He's nice and wise and gracious and rugged. And he's one heck of writer.
