John Holdstock, a partner with Grant Thornton in Canada, says "Overall, business owners paint a very fragile picture.In many parts of the world they are very pessimistic."He adds, "Even where optimism is stronger such as in Canada and south-of-the-border, political events and global interdependency between economies could so easily blow recovery off-track."But, he says business owners in a variety of countries, including Canada, are relatively optimistic about turnover and employment prospects in the year ahead.
The Grant Thornton International Business Owners' Survey (IBOS) was carried out by Wirthlin Worldwide among 6,058 owners of medium-sized businesses from nineteen countries between 01 September 2002 and 21 November 2002.
