   This latest report draws together a decade of inter-related research and reveals some interesting trends,' says Glenn Holdstock, economic development officer for Sutherland Shire Council, and AMSRS member.
   
   'While material wealth may have increased overall, many people feel that life is not necessarily getting better,' says Glenn.
   
   'Sustainability is a widely used (perhaps overused) term, and it means different things to different people. We believe it can be summarised as the interconnectedness of the natural, social and economic environments. Sustainability implies meeting the needs of the present generation, without compromising the quality of life of future generations. This is a big ask, but at least now we have a methodology and a set of measures to assess our progress,' says Glenn.
