Giants Hire New Defensive Quality Control Coach: The Giants announced yesterday that they have hired Al Holcomb as their new defensive quality control coach. Holcomb replaces Andre Curtis, who left the Giants last month to join Steve Spagnuolo's staff in St. Louis.
    ...
Holcomb was the defensive line coach at Layayette College from 1996-98. According to the Giants' press release, Lafayette's defensive coordinator, John Loose, worked with new Giants' Defensive Coordinator Bill Sheridan from 1992-97 and enthusiastically recommended Holcomb.
    ...
"Al Holcomb is a veteran coach who has been at the collegiate level his entire career," Head Coach Tom Coughlin said.
    ...
I was impressed with Al and with his whole thought process in terms of how he got in to coaching. He did not play football at West Virginia but became a G.A. at Temple right out of college. He has a master's degree and I think he will make a solid addition to our staff."

"I am humbled and it is a great honor and a privilege to be a part of a great organization like the New York Giants," Holcomb said.
