Dr. Alan Hirsch, who is the creator of Sensa and started Medical School at the age of 16 years old, is a world renowned Neurologist and Physiatrist. He developed what has become known as Tastants which are sprinkled on your food. These Tastants or sprinkles are not flavorings or seasoning in any way, shape or form. They do not alter the flavor of food but they enhance the way food tastes, making you feel full faster.

Dr. Alan Hirsch has learned that by stimulating the part of your brain that tells your body it is time to stop eating.

Other statins on the market would likely achieve a comparable effect, said Dr. Alan T. Hirsch, director of the vascular medicine program at the Minneapolis Heart Institute and a spokesman for the American Heart Association.

He said statins aren't being used enough in people with peripheral artery disease, and he hopes the study draws attention to their benefits at the time of surgery, as well as throughout the lifetime of the patient.

"A statin is a seat belt when you drive a damaged artery," he said.

Speculating that patrons themselves could be partly to blame for new, unpleasant smells, AXE, the male grooming brand and maker of all-over deodorant bodysprays, partnered with world-renowned scent scientist Alan Hirsch, M.D., to reveal what's behind "bar funk."Through a series of scientific tests at a popular Chicago bar/restaurant, Dr. Hirsch discovered that while the odor of cigarette smoke is gone, equally offensive aromas that were previously hidden have surfaced.

Apparently the olfactory system keeps in close touch with the limbic system which contains the amygdale and hippocampus parts closely associated with memory and emotion. (I'm just going to take Dr. Alan Hirsch's word for it here since he actually heads up "The Smell and Taste Research Foundation!") He calls this phenomena "olfactory evoked recall."

According to Dr. Hirsch's studies, the events evoked by nostalgic smells are not as important as the emotions they recall.

Just like Dr. Hirsch's study, the smell of freshly baked cakes and cookies was high on the list.
