    Geoff Hill

    President, Cinnabon

Geoff Hill joined Carvel as vice president of franchise & foodservice in March of 2002, and promoted to senior vice president in August 2003. He was then made Senior Vice President of Sales for FOCUS Brands, Inc. upon its inception in November 2004 after the acquisition of Cinnabon. Geoff oversaw sales and development for Carvel, Cinnabon, and Seattle's Best Coffee International with primary responsibilities for franchise sales, real estate, and the pre-opening development process. Throughout his tenure at Carvel and FOCUS Brands, Geoff took on more responsibilities beyond franchise sales, including real estate, design & construction, franchise administration, and operations. In October 2006, Geoff was named president of Cinnabon, which is the position he holds today. In addition to his role with Cinnabon, he continues to lead the development functions for all FOCUS Brands. Geoff received his CFE designation from the International Franchise Association as a Certified Franchise Executive in 2005 and currently serves on the Board of Governors for the ICFE program as its chairman. Prior to Carvel, Geoff was vice president of sales for Vital Link Business Systems. At Vital Link, Geoff managed the sales team and developed the strategic sales plan resulting in the sale of over 3,000 systems in 15 months. From 1995 to 2000, Geoff was Regional Vice President of US Franchise Systems, managing the franchise sales and development for Microtel Inns and Hawthorn Suites. He began his tenure at USFS as Director of Franchise Sales in the Midwest. Finally, Geoff started his career with the Bristol Hotel Company, one of the largest hotel owners and operators in the U.S. at one time. Becoming the youngest general manager in the history of the company, he also held the positions of director of sales & marketing and corporate sales manager. Geoff attended the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration where he graduated in 1992 with a major in Hospitality marketing and operations.

For Geoff Hill, New VP Role at Private Equity Firm Offers `Best of all Worlds’

Atlanta, GA â€" Roark Capital Group, a private equity firm that owns 14 franchise companies with collectively more than $3 billion in system-wide revenues, announced today that Cinnabon, Inc. President Geoff Hill will join Roark Capital as Vice President, effective January 1, 2010.
    ...
At Roark, Hill will be responsible for helping find new investment opportunities in franchising as well as assisting the management teams of the current franchise portfolio companies in operations and best practices.
    ...
Named President of Cinnabon in November 2006, Hill also served as Senior Vice President, Development and Sales of FOCUS Brands Inc. . A graduate of Cornell’s Hotel Management Program, he spent multiple years in operations with the Bristol Hotel Company, one of the largest and most respected hotel operators in the US, and became the youngest general manager in the history of the company.

During his tenure at Carvel and FOCUS Brands, Hill was instrumental in growing the brands to their highest year-over-year levels, and continuously took on more responsibility beyond franchise sales, including real estate, design & construction, franchise administration, and operations. He developed a national sales force from the ground up, and signed franchise agreements for more new stores in the 16 months following his hire than were signed in the 10 years prior to his arrival at Carvel.
    ...
Hill has a 14-year history in working with both Aronson and Steve Romaniello, a Managing Director who specializes in franchising at Roark Capital.
    ...
Later, as Aronson formed Roark Capital, Hill and Romaniello joined Carvel, laying the foundation for the strategic turnaround of the iconic ice cream franchise brand and the eventual formation of FOCUS Brands, a multi brand franchisor.

FOCUS Brands in Atlanta, parent of Moe's, Schlotzsky's, Carvel and Cinnabon, is also still expanding and sold 50 new units in the past three months, says Geoff Hill, Cinnabon president and the multi-concept company's current head of franchise sales.

And because so many other brands have stopped expanding, FOCUS brand franchisees are often getting good deals on sites.

Cinnabon, known best for its rolls, also is exploring ways to raise awareness and sales of its beverages, said Cinnabon President Geoff Hill. It offers coffee, lemonade and chilled and blended frozen beverages flavored with fruit, coffee and chocolate.

Beverages make up about 20 percent of sales at a typical outlet, but Hill said Cinnabon hopes to push that to 25 percent to 30 percent of sales with two key changes already in the works.

It's testing a new "Cinnabar" section in a Houston store that draws more attention to the drinks. Cinnabon also is talking with potential beverage partners to help expand its offerings, Hill said.

The goal is to add more beverage sales to orders and use beverages to increase the frequency of visits by guests, he said.

"People drink coffee every day," Hill said.
