Abilene Christian University's College of Business Administration honored alumnus Gary Hill, vice president and chief ethics officer for Wal-Mart Stores Inc., with the Distinguished Business Leader Award for his work in ethics and compliance.
"Gary has had an exemplary career, providing leadership in both the government and business sectors, while establishing world-class ethics and compliance programs at EDS (Electronic Data Systems) and, most recently, with the world's largest retailer, Wal-Mart," said Dr. Rick Lytle, dean of ACU's College of Business Administration.

Hill has been honored as a pioneer in ethics and compliance for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and EDS.
Hill spent 20 years at Texas Instruments as manager of government liaison and compliance, and later served as the first ethics officer for EDS in Plano.
In 2004, he became a director of the newly formed Global Ethics Office.
He was promoted to vice president and chief ethics officer in 2007, and he was responsible for Wal-Mart's Global Ethics Office until his retirement in April 2009.
The Global Ethics Office is responsible for worldwide communication, education and investigation of ethics and integrity matters for Wal-Mart's more than 2.2 million associates.
Hill received a bachelor's degree in business from the University of North Texas and a master of divinity degree from ACU.
