Paul Higgins is a champion for the environment in Newark.
Paul, a long-time Sierra Club activist, is the primary author of Newark's open-space initiative, Measure C (see article on following page).He single-handedly started the petition drive for Measure C and continues to lead that campaign while running for City Council.
He opposes development in wetland areas and supports maintaining Newark's small-town feel.He opposes the 600-megawatt Calpine power plant.He supports using existing rail to provide regional transportation solutions and connections to Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.
A Southern Alameda Group ExComm member, Paul is a local hike leader and speaks on behalf of the Club on local development issues.
