H & H Specialties was founded by John H. Higgins in 1967 in La Mirada, California.

Mary Louise, widow of founder John H. Higgins, has been President of H & H since the passing of John Higgins in 1986.

After service with the U.S. Army in North Africa and Italy during World War II, John Higgins came back to Los Angeles and worked in the theatrical industry in various capacities.In 1967, H & H Specialties began when he walked into a rented building with two tool boxes and two thousand dollars borrowed from his mother.

Since that time, the company has grown into a leading manufacturer of theatrical rigging equipment and stage curtain tracks.
