Marcy Higbie has been an attorney of the Firm for approximately 17 years.She is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas (Civil Engineering), previously employed by Exxon Chemical as a capital projects engineer for petrochemical, commercial and office building projects.

She enjoys a broad real estate transaction practice, with an emphasis on land acquisition, development, financing and construction of commercial projects, residential subdivisions and custom homes.She also has expertise in matters relating to title, construction claims, mechanic's lien law and real estate-related environmental concerns.

Marcy is an avid Gator fan, having graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, with highest honors.She considers it her good fortune that, twice in the last 5 years, she has been able to cheer for the Gators at the Sugar Bowl.Marcy has a Law Degree from the University of Houston, summa cum laude, and a Masters of Law from the University of Houston in Energy & Resources Law, with a focus on environmental contamination and liabilities.

In addition to her legal practice, Marcy has had extensive training as an arbitrator and regularly serves as an Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.She has been a member of AAA's panel of Commercial Arbitrators and AAA's panel of Construction Industry Arbitrators for over10 years.Prior to the 2000 Olympics, she was appointed to AAA's national panel for USA Track and Field cases.

Marcy is a member of several engineering, academic and law honor societies, including Tau Peta Pi, Phi Kappa Phi and Order of the Coif.She participates in Houston Bar activities and is currently Director, Secretary-Treasurer of the Houston Bar Association Real Estate Section.She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the American Bar Association.

Having a life-long interest in engineering, Marcy has held a number of leadership positions in Houston engineering organizations.She is a member of the Texas Engineering Foundation, a Past-President of the Sam Houston Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers and the current 2nd Vice President of the Houston Engineering and Scientific Society.For the last five years, Marcy has served on the Houston Engineers Week Committee, a committee representing all fields of engineering and the sponsor of Engineers Week activities in Houston, including selection of Houston's "Engineer of the Year."

When Marcy is not in the office, you can probably find her on the soccer fields with her 17 and 11 year-old daughters.Her older daughter plays mid-fielder for Houston Challenge, a national traveling team.Her younger daughter plays both Fall and Spring soccer as an Eclipse goalkeeper.
