Hard work, ingenuity and perseverance helped the founder of Modern Litho-Print Co., Anton Hiesberger, build a solid business toward the end of the depression in the 1930s.Money was tight and he often had to improvise to get the work done. For example, he would stand outside his business at noon for the bright light of the sun to burn images on the printing plates, because he couldn't afford proper equipment. But the Jefferson City business grew.
After nearly 40 years, Mr. Hiesberger sold the business to Gasper Scuderi, who continued the tradition of better equipment, additional employees and more customers. In 1976, the business moved down the street to a larger facility to help accommodate the growing needs of the business.
