Capt. Andy Hierstetter, a 1995 graduate of Fort Pierce Central High School and class salutatorian, has been the 572nd Miltary Intelligence Company commander for the Stryker Brigade Combat Team since December 2005.He submitted this memoir unsolicited, he said, "to allow those (on the Treasure Coast) to share an experience from a hometown soldier's view , maybe a refreshing break from the normal headlines you get from the media."Story ToolsEmail this story | Print

ABOUT CAPT. HIERSTETTER
- He and his 106-member company "are responsible for intelligence analysis and human intelligence collection, reconnaissance asset management, and detainee interrogations for the Stryker Brigade."
- He received his commission in 1999 after graduating from Florida Southern College.
- At Fort Pierce Central, he served in the ROTC program.
- His wife, Robin, is a graduate of Port St. Lucie High School.The couple and their son, Alexander, 1, live in Fairbanks, Alaska, where is is stationed at Fort Wainwright.
