Adella P. Hiers, 83, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003.

She was born and raised in Wheeling, W.Va., and graduated summa cum laude from the College of Mount Saint Joseph on the Ohio, in 1943.She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing, and taught nursing in Ann Arbor, Mich., during the World War II years.She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.An avid reader and Civil War fan, she volunteered at the Fredericksburg Museum and Cultural Center for the past 13 years until her death.
