NAPA -- Carl D. Hieb, 63, died Sunday, March 3, At Queen of the Valley Hospital.He was born March 18, 1938, in Lodi and grew up in Vallejo.He spent the last 35 years in Napa.

He graduated from Vallejo High School and earned his AA degree at Solano College and attended Sacramento State.While attending high school, Carl played on the golf team and is a former junior golf champion, representing Vallejo Golf Club with honors in many of the state's larger tournaments.He was regarded as among the leading Northern California amateurs with a handicap ranging from scratch (0) to two.

He worked as a nuclear technician at Mare Island for two years before entering the Real Estate business.Starting with Dave Conger in Vallejo, Carl then moved on to Napa to become project sales manager for Amfac Development at Silverado.

Carl served as a director of the Vallejo Golf Club and on the Napa Development Council.He spent six and one-half years in the Army National guard.He was a proud member of the Napa Elks Club.

Carl is survived by his loving sister, Madelyn Hieb Nunn, brother-in-law, Don Nunn, sister-in-law Laura Ann Hieb; nephews, Douglas and Kurt Nunn, Steve, Chris and Larry Hieb; nieces Lisa Nunn York, Regina M. Allen and Renee Driscoll.
