Amber Hieb

GSA's Amber Hieb, raffle coordinator, did a magnificent job raising $12,000 for GSA's marine conservation work, up $1000 over last year.Amber and her team of volunteers attended 30 events in 14 communities, selling approximately 2300 tickets in only 16 weeks.She also organized and produced a radio ad campaign for GSA with air time donated by the Malaspina University-College FM radio station where she is a student.

A special thanks to raffle coordinator Amber Dawn Hieb for her terrific work in organizing and promoting the four-month long raffle, which raised over $11,000,our most successful raffle ever!

A big welcome also to summer student Amber Dawn Hieb, who is working from our Nanaimo office, coordinating our summer raffle and community outreach events.Amber is pursuing a BA in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing, with the long term objective of working in fundraising/administrating for the non-profit sector, in either in independent media, human rights, or environmental protection.She has volunteered for GSA a number of times in the past and we're delighted to have her help full-time this summer.You can reach her at amber@georgiastrait.org.

AMBER HIEB, who was GSA's summer student for three years, is now coordinating our "Coastal Stewards of Tomorrow" initiative, aimed at providing experience and training for young adults wanting to become conservation leaders.She is also pursuing a degree in Business Administration focusing on marketing and media studies.In her spare time she works with a collective of natural builders and hosts her own current events news program on local community radio.
