The RTS Advantage gateway is an integral part of our alphanumeric paging system, said Bill Hieatt, Senior Vice President of Network Engineering, CONXUS Communications. We originally selected the Advantage platform after a head-to-head evaluation against other platform providers. We found that RTS Wireless offered more of the functionality we needed and their engineering team was very responsive to our development requests.
Now that we have had a successful track record together, we have upgraded to a redundant version of the RTS Advantage platform to give us even better reliability in our nationwide network with less intervention and monitoring..
Mr. Hieatt added that CONXUS plans to upgrade to the RTS Advantage two-way message-switching platform, which is based on the Microsoft Windows NT operating system, later this year. The two-way platform allows carriers and other service providers to offer a complete set of enhanced two-way messaging and personalized, location-based services to mobile phone, pager and PCS device users. It was designed to allow for the simple addition of yet-to-be-created services in the future.
CONXUS Communications, Inc., headquartered in Greenville, S.C., is developing a nationwide narrowband PCS network based on Motorola's InFLEXionTM and ReflexTM technologies. The company launched its first service, PocketalkTM portable answering machine, in 1997, followed by Pocketext, advanced text messaging with guaranteed delivery.
