Police Chief Brian Hieatt said the computers are programmed to allow officers to perform a variety of tasks from the vehicle, home or anywhere else they may be.

Each computer has the ability to monitor the town's surveillance cameras and allows officers to keep an eye on a potential trouble spot while patrolling in another area."If we have a camera near Hardees and an officer gets a call of a disturbance on Hardees parking lot he can check the camera and gauge how to respond," Hieatt said.

The chief said that capability also means an officer can park in an area where's there's been trouble and still monitor other parts of the town."If we've had break ins or vandalism in an area they can park there for a short period of time or we can put a camera there and monitor the area from other places," the chief said.

The computers allow officers to do their reports and send them to the printer regardless of where they are."The computer thinks it is sitting in the station and it automatically sends the report to that printer," Hieatt said.

Hieatt said the town purchased the computers and Four Seasons Wireless is furnishing the software and Internet capabilities.

Don't know, but Brian is an excellent person and would make a good sheriff. He has done a great job for the Town of Tazewell.

Actually I know Brian, and I think he would make a good Sheriff.

Besides, I think he has a bad Rotator Cuff in his throwing arm ...But hes not that kinda guy anyway.

From what I know of Brian over the past 14 - 15 years, hes a good guy with a good head on his shoulders.I dont think there would be a great deal of turnover at that department if he were the boss.

He has done great things with Tazewell PD.
