   Waylon started playing sax at age 11 and has been playing for 16 years. He grew up in Tulare, CA located in the Central California. He joined band in sixth grade and received the majority of his musical training from the local school music programs.
   
   Waylon began playing in the local community college jazz band while still in high school. Jazz seemed to excite Waylon more than any other music he played in the past. During this time, he also held a part time job at a local music studio where he began giving private music lessons. Waylon's musical experiences while at the College of the Sequoias and his private teaching job convinced him that music would be his major. Waylon is a graduate of the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music.
   
   While at UOP his studies included, music theory, music history, ear training, as well as jazz and classical training on all saxophones. His secondary instrument courses included clarinet, flute, oboe, bassoon and trumpet. He was fortunate to study and perform with such artists as the legendary Dave Brubeck, Bobby Watson, Christian McBride, Bobby Shew, Pete Christlieb, Bruce Paulson, Jeff Hamilton and Arturo Sandoval.
   
   Waylon now resides in Temecula, CA, where he is a private wind instrument instructor who caters to the local elementary, middle and high school band students.
