Keynote speaker Rick Hicks, Cypress chief of police, spoke from the heart about how he came to Jesus as a preteen during a sermon by the Rev. Billy Graham.
"I was literally overcome by a power," he said, likening it to being in an empty room but knowing that you are not alone.
Hicks shared humorous and serious stories of his life in law enforcement and the sorrow of losing two children shortly after their births.
He gave praise to Jesus for getting he and his wife, Lisa, with whom he was celebrating a 17th wedding anniversary, through both the good and bad times.
Hicks ended his speech by asking all in attendance to pray with him.
