    Rhian Hicks ProfileRhian Hicks Statement

One day, if you visit Cambrian's head office - provided the Welsh weather isn't living down to its reputation, take a lunchtime stroll beside the river.Chances are, you'll spot Rhian Hicks, her flowing hair stuffed into a hard hat, hammering fossil treasures from the Usk Silurian Inlier.

'I'm an avid fossil collector.Geology is definitely a passion for me.'

In fact, the natural world as a whole is her passion.Rhian has a BSc (Hons) in Geology and Biology from the University of Glamorgan. She's also a Fellow of the Geological Society of London, a member of the Paleontological Society, a Fellow of the Linnaean Society of London and a member of the Cardiff Naturalist Society.
    ...
Rhian is also the mastermind behind INTOTOÔ, Cambrian's brand new geological reporting database.

'The development process involved in databases is actually quite creative and requires a lot of lateral thinking. For example, INTOTOÔ was born as a result of a direct challenge from a client with data from 200 wells.Time was at a premium and he wanted to be able to enter data once and use it many times on different reports and the final well report, without reformatting - and to share the information with all partners. Now there's a challenge!'

    Drawing on Experience

But whatever the satisfaction of penetrating the mysteries of software, Rhian gives the distinct impression that she's also looking for bigger, more tangible adventures.
    ...
With her quick intellect, curiosity and careful attention to detail, you might say that Rhian is quite a deep person.Sometimes she's very, very deep - underground.
