Mrs. Hicks was born in 1929, in Dothan, AL.She moved to Luverne, AL as a child where she attended Luverne High School.She graduated from Alabama Women's College (now The University of Montavello) with a degree in Social Work.She retired in 2002 after teaching school for 42 years in Wilcox County school systems.She previously worked as a social worker for 3 years.She was an avid reader and served as a board member of the Wilcox County Library for several years.
