  Barbara holds a Master's of Library Science from the University of Pittsburgh and is retired from her business researching land use history of real estate.A landowner in the Rock Creek watershed (a tributary to Big Chico Creek), she owns Hennigan Farms, an almond and walnut ranch the Hennigans have farmed since 1883.Together with her husband, she also owns a company that supplies fire fighting planes to the Bureau of Land Management and is active in airport land use issues.She is Action Chair on the League of Women Voters Board of Directors, focusing on water and land use.She also serves on the Farm Bureau Natural Resources Committee.

  League member Barbara Hennigan pointed out the political inequities on water issues.Eighty-six percent of the water that runs through the California Delta originates in the Sacramento River hydrological region, she said.
  
  However, only 0.2 percent of California's residents live where the water begins, she said.
  
  She said there is no better time than right now to have the voices from Northern California heard, as the state is currently working on the next water plan, due to be released in 2009.

  Comment: Estimates ranged from a high of 57" for full irrigation in "Kern Soil and Water", Sept. 2007 to a low of 38" in the Sacramento Valley, but it was not clear if ' total requirement's or' total irrigation' was being described and whether rain or frost protection water was included. -- Barbara Hennigan.

She lives in the Rock Creek watershed (a tributary to Big Chico creek) on Hennigan Farms, an almond and walnut ranch on land farmed by her husband's family since 1912. She is Natural Resources Chair on the League of Women Voters Board of Directors, focusing on water and land use. She is the Executive Director of the Butte-Sutter Basin Area Groundwater Users, an organization devoted to protecting the interests of farmers and domestic well owners who are totally dependent on groundwater.
