Dr. Henderson was born April 4th, 1955 in Spokane, WA.He grew up in Kokomo, IN and graduated from Kokomo Haworth High School in 1973.He attended Indiana University, and recieved a B.S. in Microbiology in 1976, along with his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1980.During his 4th year, he completed an internship at the VA Medical Center in Huntington, WV.

Following graduation, Dr. Henderson joined Dr. Harold Davis & Associates in Oak Lawn, IL.He participated in FDA clinical contact lens research projects from 1980-1985.In 1985, Dr. Henderson acquired The Optometrists of the North Shore in Northbrook, IL.He took care of 9 nursing homes from 1985-1992, while allowing the Northbrook practice to grow.

He took special courses at the Illinois College of Optometry in diagnostic pharmaceuticals in 1988 and therapeutic pharmaceuticals in 1995.Dr. Henderson was active in legislative lobbying in Springfield for the Illinois Optometric Association.The successful legislation in 1988 & 1995 allows optometrists to use drugs to diagnose and treat ocular disease.

In 1999, Dr. Henderson opened The Optometrists of Lake Forest.He is an active member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), Illinois Optometric Association (IOA), and past president of the Chicago North Side Optometric Society.

Dr. Henderson resides in Lake Bluff, IL with his wife Melanie, and 3 kids, Chelsea, Emily, and Andy.He enjoys snow skiing, boating/water sports, vacations with his family, and fine food.

Dr. Henderson received both his Bachelor's of Science and his Doctor of Optometry degree (1980) from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.

In 1985, Dr. Henderson acquired The Optometrists of the North Shore.Due to its overwhelming success, he expanded his practice to The Optometrists of Lake Forest in 1999.He felt this would better accommodate his patients and enable them to receive the best possible patient care and service.

Dr. Henderson specializes in fitting contact lenses for adults and children, especially for those who have a difficult fit or who have had problems in the past.He participated in FDA clinical research as an associate of Dr. Harold Davis and Associates, Oak Lawn, Illinois from 1980 through 1985.

As a laser Vision Consultant, Dr. Henderson has been co-managing Laser Vision patients with surgeons in Canada and in the Chicago land area since 1997.He is part of an ever-growing network of Laser vision Correction specialists.He administers pre and postoperative evaluations for LASIK in conjunction with corneal specialists throughout Illinois.

Dr. Henderson is a member of the Illinois Optometric Association an the American Optometric Association.He is a former President of the Chicago North side Optometric Association.
