Mary Henderson, director of the Lafayette Natural History Museum and Planetarium, said she tries to keep the museum open for free during ArtWalk at least once a year. On Sept. 13, the museum will open for free from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and will feature two special exhibits — Wrapped in Pride, which features Kente cloth and its use in African and African-American communities and Welcome to the Water Planet, which opens that day.

"We're limited to four free days a year, so we're not able to participate (in ArtWalk) every month, but we try to coordinate those days with other events that are going on downtown," Henderson said.
