"The goal of this program," Heisler explained, "is kids teaching kids. The Juniors learn to be models."

Heisler said the mothers of the Juniors were "awesome. We couldn't do it without all their help and support. When I'm at work, they fill in for me."

Heisler is a professional EMT with Golden Cross Ambulance. She is 22 and was in the Junior fire fighters program before becoming a senior fire fighter and sponsor for the Juniors.

Donations of clothes and shoes are still needed for clowning costumes."The bigger the shoe, the better," Heisler explained."And holes in them are wonderful! We could even use socks to make puppets."

Anyone wishing to donate can call 612-2509 and make arrangements to drop the items off at the Medina Lake Volunteer Fire Department.

Heisler said the Juniors also expressed appreciation for Kent Gerstner who matched the $250 budgeted by the Medina Lake Volunteer Fire Department for the educational program.
