  The John Tyler Community College Board welcomes Arthur J. Heinz as its newest member.Heinz was appointed to the College Board by the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors.
  
  Heinz, the owner of Heinz Insurance Agency, is a longtime resident of Chesterfield County and is heavily involved in the community.He is the past president and past chairman of the Chesterfield County Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Chester Lions Club, a board member of the Petersburg Area Regional Tourism, and board member of the Magnolia Green Community Development Authority.He holds a Bachelor's in Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University.Heinz says he will bring a business perspective to the John Tyler Community College Board, and he hopes that perspective, along with his community connections, will allow him to help the college continue to grow.
  
  As a father, with two daughters in Chesterfield County's public schools, and as a businessman, Heinz says he knows all too well the important role education plays in a community."We have to compete in a global community, so we need to train people for the workforce," says Heinz.

  (Chester, VA) -- Chesterfield County Chamber of Commerce president Art Heinz says their quick offer to pay the cost of County Administrator Lane Ramsey's controversial 18-thousand-dollar charter flight was a mistake.

  Heinz wrote his comments in a letter to county chamber members, saying, "Looking back, we most certainly could and should have done this differently."He wrote that Ramsey on December 29th made a hasty decision to take his flight and the chamber executive board mistakenly made a decision without the vote of the full board to quickly offer the money.Heinz wrote that the decision to offer the check was made without taking time "to review the perceptions and ramifications of the circumstance and how it would affect the chamber."Heinz and the executive committee found out quickly, though, after some members and county residents protested the check.
