Sandy HeinrichTimberline High School
Sandy Heinrich graduated from Washington State University (WSU) and taught in Washington for four years before moving to Idaho to take a position with Joint District 171.
Heinrich was a teacher for Joint District 171 at Timberline High School for six years during the 70s, left for seven years, returned, and has been with District 171 ever since, first at Pierce then moving to Timberline when the junior highs moved there.
In the late 80s, Heinrich was named Science Teacher of the Year for Northern Idaho.
Though she has taught English and Home Economics, Science, US History, and Government have been her favorite subjects, with Science taking top billing.
As to her favorite part of working in education, Heinrich answers without missing a beat: "the kids - absolutely, the tremendous kids.I will miss them."
Married 46 years, Heinrich and her husband have two daughters, one in Boise and one in Weippe and three granddaughters.
Looking forward to retirement, Heinrich says she and her husband are in the process of building a new home.Eventually, she says they would like to travel to the Northwest Territories and Northern Canada.
