Following his death, his two sons Thomas and Alexander took over the running of the family business.During their reign the business expanded considerably and carried on the reputation for excellence acquired by their father.Alexander and Thomas made an excellent team.

Thomas Heine Snr. died in 1963, aged 81.His brother, Alexander died in 1974, aged 83.
At the time of Alexander's death his only son Thomas Jnr. was appointed Chairman of the company.Thomas Jnr. joined the family business in 1942 straight from school when he was 17 years old.Tom Heine was educated at St. Declan's De La Salle School and St. Patrick's De La Salle School, Newtown.
Speaking to Waterford Today Tom explained that he has been working in the shop for nearly half of the shop's lifetime considering he has worked there for 65 years and the shop is 129 year old.In 1955 Tom Heine married Mary Whyte, they had two children, Anne and Gerard.

Tom is a founder member of the Retail Jeweller's of Ireland (RJI), he is the oldest surviving president of the RJI.He served his presidency from 1973-1974.
In the 129 years since the business was first established four generations of the Heine family have been involved in the running of the shop, including Tom Heine's sister Breda and his son Gerard.
