Hein joined Reynolds Tobacco in 1983 as director of research and development for packaging operations and in 1984 became vice president of technology for RJR Archer, Inc. (now RJR Packaging).In 1992, Hein became vice president and general manager of RJR Packaging.Hein has served on the board of trustees of the American Management Association (AMA), was chairman of the AMA Packaging Council for four years, and served on the AMA Manufacturing Council.He is also on the board of The Gravure Association of America and the board of The Gravure Education Foundation.He is a member of the International Organization of Packaging Professionals, the Society of Plastic Engineers and the Flexible Packaging Association.Hein has served on the advisory boards of the packaging departments at Clemson University and the Rochester Institute of Technology.A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Hein earned a bachelor's degree from Carnegie Mellon University and a master's degree from South Dakota State University.
