"The problem is, it's a very small percentage of people who do these things and really hurt the reputation of everyone else," said Becky Hein, a communications specialist for Carlisle Events, which began the annual show five years ago when it was called Carlisle Custom Compact Nationals.
No alcohol will be permitted at the event, Hein said.
Modified Madness will include customized sport compacts, luxury sedans, SUVs and trucks.Included in a list of entertainment and special guests for the show is West Coast Customs, a California auto shop made famous in the MTV show "Pimp My Ride," in which the shop transforms ordinary, beat-up vehicles into "tricked-out" rides.Big Dane and Q are the West Coast Customs personalities scheduled to be in attendance.
"A lot of people will come just to see them," Hein said.

"This is one of the largest of this kind of car show," Hein said."We are hoping (attendance) will be a bit closer to where it was when we were in Carlisle."
Carlisle Events chose State College for this year's Modified Madness because of its central location in the state and local police departments' ability to deal with large numbers of people and sometimes rowdy crowds.
"We talked to (police) even before we decided the Bryce Jordan Center was to be the venue for this show," Hein said.
