Kyoshi Ann-Marie Heilman:

Kyoshi Ann-Marie Heilman holds the ranks of 8th Dan in Karate and 8th Dan in Kobudo.She also has been awarded her Kyoshi License making her one of the highest ranked woman in the world and the highest in the Okinawa Kenpo system.Mrs. Heilman is recognized as one of the leading teachers of Women's Self-Defense Programs in the country.She is Co-Founder and Vice-President of the IKKF and serves as Technical Advisor Board Member of the International Ryukyu Karate Research Society, Australia.

Mrs. Heilman had the honor of being inducted into the U.S. Karate Alliance HALL OF FAME in 1996, making her along with Mr. Heilman the only Husband/Wife team to receive the award up to that time.She also co-shared the Pennsylvania Instructor of the Year for 1996.In 2001 Mrs. Heilman was inducted into the Pennsylvania Karate Rating Association's HALL OF FAME.

Of special interest was a sparring session held on Sunday in which participants from various dojos had the opportunity to spar with each other and many of the Seminar Instructors including Mr. Heilman - it was great fun!!

While it would appear that Master Odo will be using the name "Ryukyu Hon Kenpo Kobujutsu" for the name of the arts that he now teaches under his direct aspices under this latest reorganization, NO NAME CHANGE will be made by the Hanshi Heilman and the IKKF Program for their arts of "Okinawa Kenpo Karate Kobudo", or the "Okinawa Kenpo" and "Oki Ken Kobudo" kanji patches for the Yudansha uniforms.

FIGHTFEST HELD AT IKKF HONBU:

On January 17th, members from a number of IKKF Dojos (Heilman, Baer and Nenow Dojos) came together in Reading at IKKF Honbu for the first of what will hopefully be a number of "IKKF Fightfests".

Hanshi Heilman a student of the arts for 40 years is assisted by his wife, Kyoshi Heilman, herself a 34 year practitioner of the arts.The IKKF is supported by an Executive Board comprised of some of the leading martial artists in the world covering a variety of traditional disciplines.Additionally, the IKKF is a founding member of the World Union Of Martial Arts Federations.

On a sad note, we note the passing of "Nakamura the Cat", the spirit of the HKA Dojo.He was a one-of-a-kind cat and truly a special part of the IKKF Family.

Administratively, the last year saw some changes with a new patch introduced for the Renshi-Kai members, and the announcement of the formal adoption of a unique "kan" for the version of Okinawa Kenpo taught under the IKKF Program - "Okinawa Kenpo Karate Kobudo Koryu Kan".The establishment of our own "kan" was necessary to distinguish our program from the other "Okinawa Kenpo" programs out there.

This last year also saw Mr. Heilman's previous instructor, Master Odo rename his version of Okinawa Kenpo to "Ryukyu Hon Kenpo Kobujutsu", dissolve the OKKKF, and the establishmentt of the "Ryukyu Hon Kenpo Kobujutsu Federation" (RKKF) to take its place, only to undergo another restructuring and change of officers during the summer.

This latest addition provides the IKKF with access to one of the strongest Advisory Group Resource available to any traditional martial arts organization - 7 Hanshi's and 8 Kyoshi's, representing 12 international organizations.
