Eugene Jacob Heier

Eugene Jacob Heier, 79, founder of the Gene Heier Orchestra, a former Manitowoc resident, died Friday, March 22, 2002 at Kewaunee Health Care Center.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon, Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 702 State Street at North 7th, Manitowoc.

Gene was born March 5, 1923, at Kellnersville, son of the late Andrew and Frances Cherney Heier.

Gene organized the Holy Innocents School Band and served as director.At Roncalli High School he was the first Band Director.He married Esther Bielinski May 3, 1947, at Pine Grove.She preceded him in death April 8, 1972.He then married Ethel Nelson September 14, 1973, at Manitowoc.Member of Sacred Heart Parish, Manitowoc; V. F. W. Otto Oas Post # 659, Manitowoc; member of Musicians Local 205-Green Bay; former member of Manitowoc Federation of Musicians Local 195 where he served as president and treasurer and a Honorary Life Member of Manitowoc Aerie F. O. Eagles # 706.
