Joan Haworth - Development would mean, "...the devastation of cherished green belt land forever."
Denton Tory, Joan Haworth is urging residents to oppose BOTH schemes.
She said,“Either of the proposals will mean the destruction of green belt land and the possible irreversible damage to Horse Close Wood, an area classified as a site of biological importance.
Additionally, the success of either proposal would mean increased traffic congestion (up to an extra 200 vehicles could be using Town Lane and the surrounding area daily), increased pollution, increased pressures on local public services, but most importantly, the devastation of cherished green belt land forever.
I urge all residents to submit their objections as soon as possible.”
Joan has so far written to both the Tameside Advertiser and Tameside Reporter with her plea.
Official objections can be made by writing to: Mr. A. Cush, Planning Officer, Room 1.41, Council Offices, Wellington Road, Ashton-under-Lyne, OL6 6DL.
Joan can also be contacted on (0161) 320 9992.
